Attachment-informed nervous system work

Hola y bienvenida/o a mi página.

My time in non-profit community mental health and private practice settings offered me the opportunity to work with a wide range of backgrounds and personal struggles. These include clients grappling with low self-esteem, loneliness, and/or a deep sense of sadness. Often, people seek me out to explore their imposter syndrome, over exhaustion/burnout, and/or perfectionistic tendencies. Some would like to practice accepting help and learn when to say “enough.”  Perhaps, it has become increasingly difficult to “push through” and life just seems to get harder.

My training as a Western psychotherapist taught me the deep value of the therapist-client relationship. Together, we can learn to notice and even appreciate the automatic and oftentimes unconscious non-verbal exchanges that play out in the therapy room and beyond; for it is in relationship that we truly heal. My social work background prepared me to approach each client using a “person in environment” lens. This means that we can make space for exploring the impacts systemic factors may have on your emotional wellbeing. We can spend time dismantling systems by collaboratively helping you tend to yourself, practicing being the expert of your experience, and allowing yourself to thrive in community.

As an EMDR therapist I can help you tap into your strengths to process the barriers keeping you from living a more fulfilling life. Using teachings from Psychodynamic, attachment-based and ego state psychotherapies we can gently navigate what motivates your behaviors and work with your profoundly protected desires and fears. Additionally, mindful nervous system work allows us to safely explore being present while widening our tolerance for the emotional discomfort that is involved when doing therapy. When appropriate, I can also accompany you in exploring your thoughts, feelings and behaviors using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) strategies.
