Individual Therapy for Children ages 9+, Adolescents & Adults
I was lucky to join the Lotus Point Wellness (LPW) staff in the Spring of 2017. After 20 years of practice, in a wide variety of settings, LPW feels like the perfect place for me. It allows me to offer better healing with holistic wellness services all in one place!
Good self-care can often prevent anxiety and depression from emerging in the first place. However, if they do emerge, I provide warm, supportive, and up-to-date, mental health care.
When people are feeling anxious, depressed, or angry, often the problem is their stress level and lack of a social support system (both aspects of self-care). By helping you recognize, reduce, and more effectively manage your stress, I can be your temporary support system, enabling you to effectively address the problems in your life.
If you are having relational or emotional issues, I also use Emotionally Focused Therapy. EFT focuses on your emotions and your attachments. Attachment theory is a breakthrough theory that helps you see how your emotional difficulties are related to a disruption in your feelings of security in your relationships and in your life. I then show you how to improve your attachments using skills you can then take with you to use in the future. With couples, this approach helps strengthen your bond and find security and safety with one another.
I keep my client load moderate so that I am an energetic and available therapist, able to give the highest quality of care.
I have also worked at Suburban Hospital, UMD Shady Grove’s Counseling Center, and I was a counselor and the Executive Director at Washington Pastoral Counseling Service.
